Kemerovo State University is the flagship university of Kemerovo Region-Kuzbass.
In 2017, KemSU was granted the status of flagship university (one of 33 in Russia), and in 2018 it ranked among Russia's top-10 flagship universities. In 2020, KemSU entered QS EECA-2021 University Rankings.
KemSU is a member and the coordinator of World-Class Research and Academic Centre "Kuzbass".
Today, more than 20,000 students from 21 countries study at KemSU. The university offers 47 Bachelor's Degree programs, 10 Specialist's Degree programs, 33 Master's Degree programs, and 17 postgraduate programs. While studying at KemSU for their degrees, students may simultaneously enroll at professional development programs.
International students are admitted at KemSU within the Russian Government's quota, or they can pay full tuition fee. Compatriots (people with Russian heritage) may also compete for the places funded from the Russian Federation's budget.
KemSU's Preparatory department welcomes international students wishing to improve their knowledge of the Russian Language and other academic subjects. Since the 1990s, students from Armenia, Afghanistan, Belgium, China, Cuba, France, Guinea, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Ivory Coast, Laos, Mongolia, Syria, Sudan, Turkey, Vietnam, and Zambia have mastered their knowledge of Russian at KemSU. The duration of the preparatory program is one year.
